Atmosphere in Antigua

Do the locals welcome tourist to Antigua? I read somewhere that it wasn't the most friendliest island. I don't believe everything I read so I wanted to hear some feedback.

I have heard positive things about Antigua. I think that sometimes in bigger resorts people can tend to be less personal. I hope that you choose to leave the resort so that you can accurately judge the people of Antigua.
