Thank you for posting this. I have been considering buying a little vacation home and wasn't sure of the processes that I would need to look into first. This will save me a lot of time while I am looking.

Another consideration is that will probably be much harder for you to sell your foreign property than a property in the United States. On the positive side, you'll probably find the property taxes are significantly less!

Property taxes in the United States are outrageous and there is no chance of them going down. Some people that have their homes paid off can't even afford to stay in them due to property tax.
