Is it cheaper?

I was wondering if it is cheaper to purchase a vacation home if I know that I am going to be going to a specific place often? I travel quite a bit and go to miami often. I wonder if I could save money in the long run by just buying a little home there.

Look at it from the the investment prespective.
Can you buy the home now and in 10 (or 20 years) sell it for a good price? or would it be a good gift for your kids when that time comes? Are you buying at the TOP of real estate prices?
Can you rent it as a vacation rental for the times you won't be using it? Is there a suitable agency that can handle that side of things for you?
As just an place to escape to, or as an investment you mind look at Condos to avoid maintainence or security troubles you might have with a house.

Miami is expensive. You need to weigh your options first. Cost of living in Miami is high and so is the real estate. It depends on how much money you make too. I could never afford it. You might look into just renting a small condo or apartment first.
