Pregnancy covered by insurance?endora (24.45.126.104) -
Would pregnancy be considered a preexisting condition or could you take out insurance and if something happened would it be covered?

I never thought of it but I guess it could be considered a pre existing condition. I am not sure if I would do any major traveling depending on how far along I was. I don't think I would risk it.

Oh wow, i never considered that either. But I agree, i would not travel if i was late in my pregancy, it could be bad because who knows where you would be and there could possibly be communication barriers. Giving birth in America is scary rnough for me! LOL.

Most doctors advise you not to travel too late in your pregnancy. I just had a baby a few months ago and we didn't fly the last three months of my pregnancy. It is smart to talk to your doctor before leaving for vacation. As far as insurance goes, you can not buy a new policy and expect to be covered if you have already been to a doctor. You can always try to get government insurance like medicaid, they don't turn down for pre-existing, just if you make too much money.

Yes, I agree with honeyblossom, if I were in my last trimester I would not do any sort of traveling at all. There's just too much risk. You've got to be so uncomfortable at that point anyways. LOL.

I would think some travel insurance would cover pregnance, but you will be paying extra for it I'm sure. I know when we took out cruise I was told that I would not be able to take a cruise if I was past my 1st trimester for safety reasons of course

It may be covered but I do agree that you will probably pay more for it. Depending on where you go I would be a little worried about communication and finding adequate doctors.
