It's a vacation. Just leave the computer at home and relax. Why can't we just let ourselves have some time off?

What would you prefer?

A 2 day vacation or a 3 week vacation if you had to check in for 30 minutes every other day?

And don't forget about those who can work from anywhere if there is a connection... (you don't really think we work all the time). I haven't been to my office in almost 4 years.

Brad, are you a constant vacationer? My parents couldn't find a cell signal to call home. How do you find a WiFi?

Some hotels are actually nice enough to put the information on their websites -- others would get more business if they did. The key is to ask once you get somewhere. In one place the local ISP let me use a desk in their office (for a fee of course).

I never use a cell phone. If I want to call I use VOIP. Gives me essentially free calling to/from the USA with a USA phone number.

I would never travel without my wi-fi enabled laptop. I use skype to talk to the office at absolutely no charge, and most of my family and friends are skype users, so it's a breeze to be in contact with them all anytime I like! This is provided your hotel is providing you with free wireless connectivity as many do today. Recently on a trip I went into a Sports Bar, and for the cost of a beer, I had free wireless connectivity as long as I wanted :)

But why not just relax while you're on vacation? You only have so long to vacation, so just enjoy it. Lie back. Put your feet up. Read a book. Close your eyes. Relax.

Skype. You haven't heard of skype? While I'm typing this I'm glancing across my screen and I see that there are currently 7.786, 729 users currently online on skype around the world (no kidding), most of them talking absolutely free of charge to their online buddies using headsets plugged into their USB ports. It is absolutely free from computer to computer, clear as a bell and like talking on any phone. One click and the skype 'phone' starts ringing on your friends computer, he clicks to answer the call and you start chatting. We speak for hours to our kids across the world this way - if you are online you talk for free! If the other person doesn't have a computer, you buy skype-out credits and phone him to his landline or cell phone, and even that is usually far cheaper than the deals you get from your provider. Software is a free download. Try it out! Oh in case you don't trust them - skype is now owned by ebay :)

I like the Nokia 770 because it is hand held 6" x 3-1/2" x 1/2" thick. 800x480 screen. Wifi. It has Gizmo which is like Skype. It is great because you can surf the net, IM and make voip calls without lugging a laptop around. If you are going to type much you can use a wireless bluetooth keyboard.

I can't travel without my laptop - I have to check my mails around 2 times a day. I don't think it's too much work. I can still relax.

I also use Skype, but lately I've been using Gizmo Project more.
